Dune 2020 Is In Two Parts (Where Will Part 1 End?)

Denis Villeneuve’s creation Dune will adapt the novel of Frank Herbert of the same title, but into two separate movies. The trailer of the movie was released last week, and many fans of the novel are speculating the ending of the film. Some are wondering why the novel needs to split into two movies and why can not the markers include the whole into one.

Dune is an epic science fiction movie directed by Villeneuve, who is also the co-writer of the screenplay along with Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts. The novel which was adapted to create the script was published in 1965, and the movie will include only half of the novel. Dune stars Rebecca Ferguson, Timothee Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Dae Bautista, Zendaya, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Jason Momoa, David Dastmalchian, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

It is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States in 3D and IMAX on 18 December 2020 by Warner Bros. Pictures. The plot of the story follows the future humanity, Leto Atreides accepting the stewardship of the desert planet Arrakis, which is also known as Dune. Dune is the most valuable substance of the universe; it is a drug or “the spice” which can extend human life, make humans faster than light and think like superhuman. Leto gets an opportunity by his enemy to get the drug although he knows it might be a trick, he anyway goes for mining along with Lady Jessica and young son Paul.

The novel of Herbert is exceptionally long with a complicated plot and meticulous worldbuilding. The novel was originally published in two series, the first one is named “Dune World” and the second one is titled “The Prophet of Dune”. And for any filmmaker, it is impossible to condense the complex and dense story into a few hours. In 1984, director David Lynch tried to adapt the novel into an on-screen screenplay, and he managed to cover the entire storyline in one movie. The film failed miserably. Hence, Villeneuve learned from Lynch’s mistakes and decided to split the story into two movies. The separation of the two parts will provide the story of Dune to breathe, and the audience also has time to absorb the complicated sci-fi universe of the movie. Also, it will reduce the risk of the big-budget box office risk into two moderately budget movies which will indeed collect more box office collection than one film.

Jessica and Paul’s meeting with Fremen is the event until which the trailer is featured. Based on that fact, it seems like the climax of the movie is most probably the escape of Jessica and Paul from the attack and head into the desert. And the film might end shortly after they meet Fremen. And Paul telling Zendaya that “I know you” is the most likely the final sequence of the movie. The two parts of the Dune’s plot would most probably leave the training of Paul with the Fremen in the next sequel. Of course, the climax could be different, and the trailer could be misleading, and that will surely be a surprise for the fans. Dune will hit the theatres soon, and audiences are very excited to know how much plot is involved in the first sequel.

The above article is all about the upcoming science-fiction movie Dune and its plot.
