Fallout Locations That Would Be Ideal for Obsidian

Fans have been wondering if Obsidian can make a sequel of Fallout: New Vegas since Microsoft (which owns Obsidian) has recently acquired Bethesda Game Studios, which is the developer of Fallout. One ending is certainly going to be a bummer for New Vegas fans because the game has given a great deal of importance to multiple ending and player choices. If Microsoft allows them, then Obsidian can make several locations in Fallout much better, after the success they had with Fallout: New Vegas.

Pacific Northwest

Since Bethesda made the Fallout East Coast and Obsidian along with Interplay was focused on the West Coast, so it would make sense that they stay West. Without reshaping the old ground, Pacific Northwest can build up on the lore from Fallout and Fallout 2. Another factor that goes in favor of Northwest is the unique environment that is completely different from all other Fallout games. Fallout: Cascadia is already working on a game-sized adventure in the Northwest, which is the only reason that it does not rank higher.

Texas

Texas is one of the few locations that have a history with Fallout games. Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel transpires in Texas in the year 2208. Even though the game failed to impress, it can still be an inspiration for an Obsidian Fallout game. Factions such as the Ghoul Trading company and settlements like Lone Star have incredible worldbuilding potential. The location will also allow Obsidian to bring back Nightstalkers and Bighorners along with some of the unique creatures such as Texas Rattlers from Brotherhood of Steel.

Canada

Canada has already played a significant role in the lore, even though Fallout is an American game. In an attempt to exploit its natural resources, Canada was occupied by America in Fallout just for greed. A Candian protest can be seen to be executed by an American soldier in the first Fallout game’s intro. However, the exact location in Canada is irrelevant. Canada will give a refreshing perspective to the game and will help explore the world outside of the American empire.

Hawaii

Another interesting location for the Fallout game will be Hawaii, which has been the victim of the American empire. It has a unique culture with a significant immigrant population and military installations. One great advantage of having Hawaii as the location for the Fallout game is that the American government can be projected as a villain, which has been the tradition for the game. However, the game can be made with a newer perspective by portraying America as an imperial power trying to regain control over its former colony that has been cut off from the empire instead of casting it as a fascist state.

Wyoming

Although Wyoming might be an aberration since it is neither a big city nor any popular location but still stands to be a great candidate. One of the major reasons for that is the Yellowstone with its beautiful hot springs and forests; the national park would be an ideal place to make the Fallout game around. Some places would be perfect for settlements like the Jackson Hole. The presence of Khans is another big reason why Wyoming is an amazing location for the game. Although it may appear quite similar to the Brotherhood of Steel, which is the only exemplary Fallout faction,

Khans have been there ever since the beginning. After being run over by the main characters, Khans are great at bouncing back. In one of the endings to the game, Fallout: New Vegas, they reconcile with one of their allies and look for a home for themselves in Wyoming. The Khans as the focus and the crucial faction would serve as an important opportunity for them to get redemption.
