Google in its fall hardware event debuted the Pixel 5, the Pixel 4A 5G, Nest Audio smart speaker, and about its oft-rumored Chromecast that has a Google TV software built-in. People who like knowing hardware related specifications will definitely be happy with these announcements.
The half-hour event was full of announcements, but there were some unexpected surprises too, which we have covered below:
About Google Pixel 5
The Pixel 5 is not trying to compete with the most powerful handsets of the world, but rather it is focused on delivering unique features alongside its midrange Snapdragon 765G processor. The device, however, has an 8GB of RAM, and it supports 5G.
The device offers a Full HD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. This will make everything on the screen run in a smoother way. It has been rated with an IPX8 and is both dust and water-resistant. Google claims that the camera of the device is magnificent as it has an ultrawide lens. The camera would have a Night Sight that will work in the device’s portrait mode. With the help of Night Sight mode, users can adjust the lighting in post-processing of an image. Google has also made some improvements in the video recording.
The device will cost $699 and will be released on October 29th in the US. However, it would be released earlier on October 15th in eight other countries. It will come in two color variants: Black and Green.
About Pixel 4A 5G or Pixel 4A XL
One of the announcements regarding the handsets was of the Pixel 4A. The device would be coming up with 5G support. It has various new features. The device has an OLED display of 6.2-inch. It has the Snapdragon 765G processor, the same that is on the Pixel 5; however, the device lacks a fast-refreshing display and isn’t water-resistant. The Pixel 4A comes with a price of $499, which makes it an affordable 5G handset. It will be available in two variants black or white and is expected to be launched in November.
Group Watch on Duo Video Chats
Now you will be able to share the screen with the one you are chatting on Google Duo. Currently, you are allowed to only chat on a video call through the front or rear cameras, but now Google Duo will offer screen sharing. This is pretty helpful for many of your tasks.
The All-New Chromecast Won’t Require a Phone
The new Chromecast model of Google will be different from its predecessors. It won’t require a mobile phone to operate as there’s a dedicated remote in the setup box which has its own Assistant button. This remote offers quick launch buttons for Netflix and YouTube. The setup runs on its own operating system known as Google TV. This new model of Chromecast would come at $50, and it would come in three variants: white (called snow), blue (called sky) and salmon pink (called sunrise). This new Chromecast model will; however, don’t support Stadia cloud gaming, but surely that would be coming at some point in future.
Google TV
The new Chromecast would run on Google TV software, where the Google Play Movies & TV app will get merged into a single app, and it will be named as Google TV. This change may occur firstly on Android phones where you will be able to rent or purchase movies directly with Google TV.
About the New Google Nest Audio Speaker
The latest smart speaker named Nest Audio would come at a price of $99. It is covered with signature mesh fabric similar to the one used in the previous Google speaker models. Google claims that it is a compelling speaker as the Nest Audio is 75 percent louder than the Google Home, and it does have a 50 percent stronger bass response. The enclosure of the Nest Audio is made from 70 percent recycled plastic.
