Grease Moves To Paramount’s Streaming Service

The musical superhit Grease was initially being released on HBO Max, but now it will launch on Paramount. Grease is a 1978 romantic comedy movie, which was directed by Randal Kleiser. The film was based on the 1971 musical by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs. Olivia Newton-John, John Travolta, and Stockard Channing were the stars of the movie. The film was a success and widely accepted by both audiences and critics. It was the highest-grossing musical movie ever at that time. Its soundtrack was a blockbuster and was among the second best selling albums of the year.

Last year, HBO Max scheduled the live-action musical of the movie Grease: Rydell High. And now Paramount is reclaiming its popular series of Grease along with the prequel Summer Lovin’.

According to an article on Variety, the musical comedy movie series Grease: The Pink Ladies’ Rise will be streamed on the Paramount streaming service, Paramount+. Annabel Oakes created the movie, and the plot focuses on the titular group and their story about how they altered the Rydell High. The movie’s development started in October 2019 by WarnerMedia and is all set to stream the film on its streaming platform, HBO Max. The movie’s original name was Grease: Rydell High, but the title later changed to Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.

However, the project was not moving forward. The Chief Content Officer of HBO decided not to continue with the project; after that, Paramount+ took over and bought the rights in October 2020.

Pink Ladies can not use the original songs and tunes, including “Summer Nights” or “Greased Lightning,” as the rights are withheld by composers Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs.

Musical lovers and the fans are impatiently waiting for the iconic dance and song as it is one of the most popular musicals series. The team and the production have not revealed any details about the casts and the project actors

The series is scheduled to be shot in California, but there are no further details about the projects yet announced. Paramount has lots of projects in its bucket, including the science fiction horror movie, A Quiet Place Part II on 23 April 2021, Snake Eyes on 23 October 2020, Clifford The Big Red Dog on 13 November 2020, and many more.

We hope soon Paramount will share more details regarding Grease. I hope you liked the article.
