Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Apple’s iPhone 12 Lineup

After many assumptions and a vast number of rumor articles, a long wait for the iPhone 12 comes to a halt as Apple finally announces the iPhone 12 series. The iPhone 12 series will have four handsets, quite different from each other. The series will consist of iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Now the users might be thinking how exactly these handsets differ, which is the reason for creating this article. By going through the points mentioned below, you will figure out the similarities and the differences between the four devices. We have also mentioned the pricing for all of these handsets.

Design & Display

All the four models of the iPhone 12 series look identical. All of them have a large notch at the top. The main body of the Pro models is stainless steel, and the others come with an aluminum frame. The devices carry a glass back, alongside a wide camera block that can be seen on the upper-left corner on the back. All four models carry a robust “Ceramic Shield” front.

All the iPhone 12 series devices are water-resistant with up to 6 meters for over 30 minutes and have an IP68 certification on each.

However, you may see a significant difference between these devices regarding their size, weight, and colors. The Pro models will be available in gold, pacific blue, silver, and graphite colors, while the others will be available in black, green, blue, white, and red colors.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max weighs over 226g and has dimensions of 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4mm. It has a screen size of 6.7-inch with a screen resolution of 1284 x 2778 at 458 pixels-per-inches.

The iPhone 12 Pro weighs far less compared to the Pro Max variant. It weighs over 187g and has 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4mm dimensions. The iPhone 12 Pro has a smaller screen size of 6.4-inch with a screen resolution of 2532 x 1170 at 436 pixels-per-inches.

The iPhone 12 weighs over 162g and has dimensions of 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4mm. It has a screen size of 6.1-inch and offers a resolution similar to the iPhone 12 Pro, i.e., 2532 x 1170, at, however, 458 pixels-per-inches.

The iPhone 12 mini weighs over 133g and has 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4mm dimensions. As the name suggests, it has the smallest screen size than all the three models, as mentioned above. The iPhone 12 mini offers a 5.4-inch display of 1080 x 2340 with 476 pixels per inch.

Camera

The Pro devices come with a triple camera set up of 12 megapixels, each with an f/2.4 aperture for the ultra-wide lens, f/1.6 aperture for the wide-angle primary lens, an f/2.0 aperture, and f/2.2 aperture for telephoto lens on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max accordingly. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max offer a digital zoom of up to 10x and 12x, respectively.

The iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini come with a dual-camera setup of 12 megapixels each. Both the devices offer an ultra-wide lens of f/2.4 aperture and a primary wide-angle lens of f/1.6 aperture and up to 5x digital zoom.

All the four models offer 12 megapixels of front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. However, the pro-models come up with a LiDAR scanner, which the other two models lack.

Battery & Other Specifications

You cannot figure out the battery size of iOS devices by any means. This is because Apple never reveals it. The company tells you up to how many hours of audio and video playback you can expect from its devices. All four devices offer fast wireless charging at over 20W, and they come up with the MagSafe feature. The only thing that makes the batteries differ is their playback time.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max can last up to 20 hours of video playback, 12 hours of video streaming, and up to 80 hours of audio playback.

The iPhone 12 Pro has a bit less battery backup that can last up to 17 hours of video playback, 11 hours of video streaming, and over 65 hours of audio playback. The similar specs can be seen in the iPhone 12 in terms of battery life.

However, the iPhone 12 mini has a comparatively lesser battery capacity than others and can play up to 15 hours of videos, 10 hours of streaming, and over 50 hours of audio.

All four devices have 5G support, face ID recognition, and run on Apple’s latest iOS 14.

Availability & Price

The Pro models have a 6GB of RAM and would be available for purchase in storage variants of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. However, both the Pro models have different pricing for the variants, as mentioned above. The iPhone 12 Pro comes with a pricing of $999, $1,099, and $1,299, respectively. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a pricing of $1,099, $1,199, and $1,399 for the above-mentioned variants.

The iPhone 12 mini, on the other hand, comes with a pricing of $699, $749, and $849, respectively, for the variants, as mentioned above.
