How to Change Your Zoom Background

Do you think, life could have been possible during the COVID-19 lockdown if the Zoom app had not been there? Maybe yes but the Zoom app made it much easier to manage. Millions of people took to the Zoom app to continue with their work and studies during the coronavirus pandemic. While most people were trying to keep up with the work using the app, many discovered some interesting and funny features of the app.

Yes, we are talking about the customized background that everyone seems to be using these days during their video calls. Actually, not just video calls, people are also using this feature to set fetching backgrounds to their entertainment videos. So, let’s take you through the process of how to set this customized background. So the next time you sit for an office video call, you won’t have to set your messed up living room first.

Just make sure that your system can fulfill all the requirements to change your Zoom background. Also remember, if you tend to gesture a lot or rock back in your chair, or a child drops in during a call, your caller will see breaks in the background. Hopefully, they are trying to fix this.

Change Your Zoom Background on the Desktop App

Step 1. Open your Zoom app and click your profile icon in the top right corner.

Step 2. Now, click Settings, then select Virtual Background on the left menu.

Step 3. On the page that appears, you will see a few default background options, including an outer space scene or a sunset scene featuring a bridge. To choose one of these, you may click on it. Once clicked, it will appear as your background screen immediately.

Step 4. You can add a more personalized background with some other picture from your system gallery. To do so, you will have to upload a photo by clicking on the + icon next to Choose Virtual Background. Once done, a box will open up allowing you to upload a photo from your computer. Choose the picture you want and click on it to see it alongside the other default images.

Step 5. You can tap X in the top left corner to get rid of any uploaded photo.

Step 2. Now, tap Virtual Background from the list of options.

Step 3. Here, you can choose the background from available default options, or upload your own.

Another Zoom tip: Add a Beauty Filter

You are always good to go for a Zoom meeting wearing a formal shirt and pajamas. However, there are days when you feel that you aren’t looking the best. For those days, Zoom is there to groom you up with its feature called Touch Up My Appearance. It is one of those softening filters that you find on Snapchat, Instagram, or Facetune. You can turn it on by clicking on the arrow next to Start Video. Open Video Settings, and select Touch Up My Appearance, under My Video. And you will find yourself all groomed up on the screen.

Whatever your purpose might be, we hope this article was able to explain to you how to use the much talked about digital backgrounds on the Zoom app.
