Kung Fu Panda 4 Release Date Updates: Is Po Back?

Kung Fu Panda first released in 2008 as an American animated knee-slapper with Wuxia activity and garnered immense popularity. The animated classic was written by DreamWorks Animation, distributed by Paramount Pictures and directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson. Set in the ancient era of China, the movie is about a group, including a panda named Po, who is a Kung Fu enthusiast. Po gets inadvertently termed as the “Dragon Warrior”, and the events that unfold after that are hilarious to witness. The movie premiered in US theatres on the 6th of June, 2008. This animated gem immediately garnered immense success and positive reviews from the audience.

Kung Fu Panda premiered in nearly 4114 cinemas across the country and earned a whopping 20.3 million US Dollars on the first day itself, and further 60.2 million US Dollars on the first weekend, making it the top-ranked movie on the box office. The goofy panda was everyone’s favorite irrespective of their age group. His liveliness, his escapades and love for food above everything else was so charming that people could not get enough of it. Not just Po, but the entire group consisting of a tigress, a monkey and a mantis received equal love from the masses. The franchise released the second part of Kung Fu Panda on the 26th of May 2011, coupled with a web TV series with the same name on Nickelodeon.

The second movie and the TV show were both released in the same year. The franchise’s third movie hit the big screens on the 29th of January, 2016. It has been four long years that the makers have kept the fans waiting for the fourth instalment of the movie sequence. Kung Fu Panda 4 is running way behind its schedule, and this has become a matter of concern for the eager audience. After wondering if Po will ever return to the big screen again, every enthusiast thought that maybe 2020 would be the lucky year. Everyone assumed that the long-awaited fourth instalment would finally drop this year and make them laugh again. But the expectations are diminishing fast now that we have reached mid-2020 and there has been no official announcement or even a hint towards the movie’s possible release.

By the looks of it, this year will also pass without Po’s presence on the box office. Even if the makers planned to release it this year, the current pandemic situation might have proven to be a deterrent since the movie will not receive the expected reception. The plot of the fourth movie will most likely revolve around Po’s journey as a master and his ways of tackling the danger in his new mantle. The film may explore the relationship of Po with his biological father. But rest assured, whatever the plot maybe we know that Po will always be the same food-loving fluffy panda. Angelina, Jackie Chan, Jake Black and Lucy Liu will most definitely be back in the forthcoming movie.
