No matter how amazing Apple products are, the users have always complained about Apple’s controlled nature regarding customization options. However, Apple took a giant leap forward with Safari 14 by introducing a redesigned toolbar, new privacy-related features, and the translation features. Apple didn’t just release Safari 14 before time, but it was released with a fantastic customizable start page. Let’s take a look at all the notable features in the newest Safari 14.
Start by Changing the Page Background
While changing the page background doesn’t sound exciting, since Apple has always been controlling in these terms, a few customization options in Safari can be good for a change. Follow the instructions below to tweak yours.
Step 1. Start by clicking on the Settings icon, and don’t forget to checkmark the box next to “Background Image.”
Step 2. After this, you will find ten default options to use them as your background image and a plain box with a “+” sign.
Step 3. You can either choose an image from the default options or click the “+” sign to find an image from your hard drive.
The next time you open Safari, it will display the image set by you in the background.
Choose Your Sections
Safari 14 displays a few different options on the start page, including Favourites, Siri Suggestions, Reading list, and more. If you want to go simple without so many options populating the home page, you might be asking for a little too much. But the good news is that Apple lets you cut down the number of sections displayed. To do so, click on the Settings icon and pick or unpick the available options:
Favorites: All those websites that you use daily and have added them as your favorites.
Frequently Visited: All those websites that you have frequently or recently visited.
Privacy Report: This is a list of all those websites that were blocked for tracing you.
Siri Suggestions: These are all the websites suggested by Siri, which were found in your messages, mail, or elsewhere.
Reading List: These are all the websites or web pages you have bookmarked or saved to read later.
Use Shortcuts
Adding shortcuts to the Start Page of your Safari can turn your display upside-down plus, you will have quick access to whatever you want. All you have to do is right-click on a blank spot on the start page of your Safari, to expose a slew of checked or unchecked options. These options include all the sections about which we discussed above. Move your cursor on these options to highlight them and right-click the ones you want to be added as shortcuts.
If you like to make the frequently used browser their own, then don’t forget to upgrade to Safari 14. It has a lot of customization options, which wasn’t expected out of Apple.
