MCU Characters Who Wielded An Infinity Stone (Besides Thanos)

Although Thanos was the first to wield all the six Infinity Stones, several other characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also wielded them at some point. According to the Marvel comics and as shown in the MCU, there are six Infinity Stones. All of these gem-type stones have different roles designated to each one of them. The first stone, Space Stone, appeared in the film Captain America: The First Avenger. The second stone is Power Stone, followed by Reality Stone, Soul Stone, Mind Stone, and Time Stone.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe focused on the unlimited powers of the Infinity Stones and the Avengers trying to protect the universe from the adverse effects they can cause when used together. The Infinity Stones were wielded by many other characters in the MCU before Thanos finally gathered them all. Here we will discuss some of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who have wielded an Infinity Stone before Thanos.

Red Skull

Johann Schmidt was the first person in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to hold the Space Stone. He is often known as Red Skull. In the film, Avengers: Infinity War, the stone transported Red Skull to Vormir. The Space Stone was kept in the vault of Odin, the king of Asgard, and the father of Thor. The Space Stone is also known as the Tesseract.

Loki

Tom Hiddleston has played the role of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the film Thor: Ragnarok, Loki stole the Tesseract when Asgard was burning to the ground after failing to retrieve it for Thanos. Unlike the Red Skull, Loki handled the Space Stone with his bare hands because of his godly nature. In the film, Avengers: Infinity War, Loki surrendered the Space Stone/Tesseract to Thanos.

Jane Foster

Natalie Portman is playing the role of Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the film Thor: The Dark World, Jane Foster was dragged into Aether because of the Reality Stone. As she is playing the character of a scientist, she discovered a portal to the hidden location of the Aether, but it selected her body as a host and seeped into her body. However, the Aether was protecting her from all harms, but it was not good for her health as well. Thor took her to Asgard and tried to remove the Aether, but Malekith drained it from her body.

The Guardians of the Galaxy

Star-Lord leaped toward the Power Stone and caught it in front of Ronan. Later, Star-Lord fell to the ground and suffered the intensity of the Power Stone. Even after this, he was able to stand up because Gamora was also holding his hand so that they could resist its intensity together. According to the comic, the Celestial heritage of Star-Lord was derived from his father, Ego, who allowed him to hold an Infinity Stone and manipulate its power.

Vision

Vision’s body was taken to the Stark Tower, where Thor pushed a lot to make Vision come to life. The Mind Stone was one of the Infinity Stones, which was embedded on the forehead of Vision. The vision became one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the power of Thor, Mind Stone on his forehead, and knowledge of JARVIS and Ultron.

Hulk

In the film, Avengers: Endgame, Bruce Banner/Hulk finally achieved what he wanted for years. The gamma radiation of his body allowed him to use all the six Infinity Stones to bring back all the superheroes Thanos turned into dust. During this process, Hulk had to sacrifice his arm.

Tony Stark

Robert Downey Jr. has played the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tony was a great character and always wanted to save other’s lives even without caring for his own. He wanted to face his biggest fears and put his life on the line to save the universe from Thanos. He always wanted to sacrifice his life for some good cause. Tony stole all the Infinity Stones from Thanos and made a final snap to save the universe. He knew already that it was going to be his last heroic act in the MCU.

After discussing several characters that have wielded an Infinity Stone, we have concluded that Thanos was not the only character to wield all the six Infinity Stones. There were characters like Hulk and Iron Man, who also wielded all the six Infinity Stones.
