It is no less than a heartbreaking experience when your Netflix refuses to run properly. In the past few months, Netflix has been the biggest support to everyone, as the world couldn’t get out of their houses without any social or physical contact with their friends and families. In such a situation, you wouldn’t want your Netflix to stop working or introduce glitches while you watch your favorite show. Although it is quite there to face problems with Netflix services. Yet, if you find any trouble here are a few ways that will, forthwith, help you solve the issues:
On Smartphones
A lot of users experience that the Netflix app suddenly starts crashing every time they try to open it. Start the app by force stopping and if it still refuses to work, then try rebooting your phone. And then uninstall the app and reinstall it from your mobile’s app store. Some users find error code ‘12001’ on their Android devices, every time they try to open the app on their mobile. This error code appears because your device has a lot of outdated data and cache, and it will stop interfering with the streaming service only if you choose to refresh the data. To solve this issue:
Go to your mobile Settings and open Apps and Notifications.
Click on See All Apps and open Netflix Party.
You will find a few sub-menu on the app settings. Click on Storage and Cache.
One by one, click on Clear Cache and Clear Storage to get rid of unnecessary data.
iOS users can also find an error code on their devices. The most common error code that occurs in an iOS device is ‘1012’ which implies that there is a network connectivity issue which is prohibiting the app from reaching its servers. Troubleshooting can help you fix the problem. And if it doesn’t work, try to reset the Netflix app from your device’s settings. But before that, open the app and click on the home button twice and then swipe up and relaunch the app. This will end the existing Netflix session.
Open Settings and go to Netflix.
Switch on the toggle for Reset.
On Desktop
If you are experiencing a glitch or if the app crashes out on your Windows or macOS, then disable your antivirus software as its security system might be interfering with the Netflix services. A lot of times, desktop users also find a black screen while they try to watch a video. This problem occurs on Windows and macOS desktops. Cookies, antivirus, or Silverlight could be the culprit behind the blackout. All of these issues can be resolved by going to settings; temporarily deactivating the antivirus; or by uninstalling Silverlight. In case these methods don’t work, try using a different browser.
On Smart TV
A lot of Smart TVs include a few pre-installed apps, but users cannot rely on them due to their reputation of bringing problems to the TV’s internal hardware. While most of the smart TVs work fine but the Samsung Smart TVs lag as they run on Linux based Tizen OS. So, if a Samsung Smart TV user faces any problems in the Netflix app or account here is what to do:
Unplug your TV and wait for a few seconds (30 seconds max) and then plug it back into the wall.
Turn off Samsung Instant On feature as it interferes with most of the installed apps.
And if the above two methods fail to work for you, click on Factory Reset from your TV’s Settings. Remember that you will lose all your preferences and data with this option. Another problem that occurs is that the Netflix app snaps out or crashes every time you use it on your Smart TV. In this situation, try to sign out of the app and clear the cache on your Smart TV. Sign in again to your Netflix account, and the app should work smoothly.
Apart from all these issues on different devices, below mentioned are some of the most common problems that may occur. These are the methods that will help you resolve them.
When Netflix doesn’t load and shows a continuously spinning red circle, try to reboot your router; restart the app; restart your device; upgrade the Netflix app; sign out of all devices.
When a lot of users use the same Netflix account at the same time, one or the other user might face difficulties to stream the services on their device. In this case, you should click on Sign Out of All Devices from the Settings menu.
You can watch Netflix content without internet services if you download it before going offline. But in case you are unable to download content despite having a good network connection, ensure that you are not using a rooted or jailbroken mobile device. Also, make sure that you are using Android 4.4.2 or later; or iOS 8 or higher for streaming.
All of these tips mentioned above and tricks should result in you to stream the Netflix app without any trouble. If these tips don’t work for you, then try taking help from the Netflix support page. They will resolve your query during a call or a live chat session.
