In My Hero Academia, we are introduced with Izuku Midoriya, a boy without a Quirk (superpowers) in a world where 80 percent of the people have one. Out of these people, very few are able to become a hero, while the strongest one of them becomes the hero number one. Izuku always dreamt about becoming one of them, but without a Quirk, his dreams seem impossible to achieve. My Hero Academia follows his life as All Might the hero number one, picks him as his successor. But the show is not only about Izuku as we see other characters on the show struggle with their own personal issues as they pursue their dream of becoming a hero. One of these is his classmate Momo Yaoyorozu.
Momo’s Quirk is not the only thing that makes her special. She is brilliant, and there is no other student in the entire U.A. High School who is as intelligent as her. Her Quirk gives her the ability to create any non-living thing from her skin. From canons to gas masks, she has made several useful things in times of need. Although the story is usually centered around Izuku, whenever attention is given to her, she always proves herself worthy of becoming a top hero one day. Today we look at some of the instances when Momo has turned out to be a star on the show.
USJ Fight
The fight at USJ was the first time when the students of Class 1-A had to confront villains, what made their situation even worse was that they got divided into several groups making it impossible for them to communicate with each other. So, students in a pair of three or four had to fight real villains who were not going to show any mercy. In a situation like that, Momo was never scared and fought villains valiantly along with Kyoka and Denki. She made a special tarp that protected her and Kyoka when Denki used his Quirk to fight off villains. If she hadn’t done that Denki would not have been able to use his Quirk and villains would have eventually defeated and killed them.
Helping Classmates
When the midterms came up, some of the students of Class 1-A were not confident of getting good marks. Although a few students did get outstanding GPAs but Sero and Denki in particular, struggled. When her classmates asked Momo to help them, she was too enthusiastic and agreed to help all of them. Even though she also had a lot of things to worry about, she still didn’t complain and made sure her classmates did well. The kindness she showed for her classmates is proof that she is going to be a great hero in the future.
Creating a Cannon
When first-year U.A. students were training with Wild Wild Pussycats, they were left halfway to the training center and had to fight earthly golems in the forest to get to their destiny. While every student used their tricks to do the task, Momo was the one who stood out. She created a cannon out of her skin and shocked everyone. She made the task look easy and proved how dangerous her Quirk could be.
Tracking Nomu
When confronted with Nomu, none of the hero students had the power to defeat it. What made matters even worse was the fact that the villains captured Bakugo. So, the stakes were very high, and the heroes were eager to get him back. However, there was no way to know where the villains were. However, what nobody knew at that time was, Momo had created a tracking device and had attached one on the back of Nomu with the help of Yosetsu. Using the tracking device, heroes were not only able to find out the hiding place of the villains, but they also got Bakugo back before the villains harmed him. It was only because of Momo’s presence of mind that the heroes got such crucial information.
Fight with Aizawa
At one point in their training, the students were tasked to face their teachers in a two vs one battle. Momo was paired with Shoto, however, her confidence was low ever since she was defeated in the festival. Shoto pushed her to have faith in her abilities, and she was finally able to create decoys and catapults, which helped them defeat Aizawa. While it is true that maybe Aizawa let them win in the end, Momo did come up with a brilliant plan, and it was crucial for her confidence that she did well in training.
Creating Masks
When the League of Villains attacked the hero students during their training with the Wild Wild Pussycats, a villain named Mustard created deadly gas using his Quirk. The villains wanted to capture Bakugo, and it was crucial for heroes that something was done about the poisonous gas because it was slowly overpowering everyone. Momo was with some of Class 1-B students at this time, and she was smart enough to immediately create masks for every one of them, to protect them from the villains. If it hadn’t been for her, Kendo and Tetsutetsu would not have been able to defeat Mustard. Just like on several other occasions, Momo proved that her presence of mind along with her Quirk made her a powerful future hero and the smartest student in U.A High School.
