Being the flagship model of the company, OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a lot of extra features when compared to the regular OnePlus 8. Plugging in all the loopholes from its predecessor, the flagship is 25% more powerful with a significantly higher price tag. But like almost the smartphones released nowadays, the OnePlus 8 Pro has its fair share of bugs and issues. So, in this article, we will be discussing some of the common problems faced by OnePlus 8 Pro users and the workarounds to fix them.
Display Issues
No matter how beautiful the OnePlus 8 Pro’s 120Hz display is, it has been plagued with software problems, which can luckily be or have already been, fixed with updates. Quite a few OnePlus 8 Pro users were seeing a green tint when set at 120Hz and low brightness. Although OnePlus has rolled out a few software updates to fix this problem, nevertheless, the problem doesn’t seem to go away for many users. Where some of the users were able to get rid of the green tint with the update, there some users got a new red tint after the update. Luckily, the company is being proactive to release updates to fix the problem and is still working on one. If you didn’t get the update whatsoever, waiting for it is the best option right now.
Touchscreen Problems
Quite a few users have been experiencing noticeable lag with using the touchscreen especially, when the display resolution and refresh rate are set to Quad HD and 120Hz, and the lag is more significant while using the keyboard.
Solutions:
You can try to reduce the display resolution and/or refresh rate to Full HD at 120Hz. This may not be the ideal solution as you will have to compromise on the display quality but this will help you for the time being. Don’t forget to restart the device after changing the display resolution.
Give a try at disabling the three-finger screenshot gesture. This trick has worked for many users. To do so, open Settings > Buttons & gestures > Quick gestures and disable “Three-finger screenshot.”
Reducing the animation speed in the Developer Options menu might play the trick for you. Open Settings > About phone and keep on tapping the build number until a pop-up comes up saying, “You are now a developer.” Then open Settings > System > Developer options. Scroll down to find the section named “Drawing” and set all the animation scale settings to 0.5x.
You can’t ignore the power of a factory reset at least as a last resort. The only downside of it is that factory reset erases everything on the phone, which you can always back up beforehand.
Unable to Use 5G
Although OnePlus 8 Pro supports 5G networks, however, a lot of users are finding it difficult to connect to available 5G networks.
Solutions:
Quite a few users are facing problems with connecting to the network, even after their SIM card supports 5G, and they have the correct data plan. If similar is the case with you, unfortunately, waiting for an update is all you can do.
According to some users, the problem is because of the phone’s dual-SIM feature. They have found that if you remove the second SIM card, you might be able to use 5G. Which otherwise wasn’t happening.
Android Auto Problems
Just like all other Android phones, getting Android Auto on OnePlus 8 Pro is also a problematic task.
Solutions:
If you used the OnePlus Switch feature to set up your new phone, it is not surprising that you are running into Android Auto connection issues. If you did use the Switch feature, then uninstall the app, find it in the Google Play Store, and download it again.
If you notice that the Android Auto app is not in your app drawer anymore, then open Settings > Google > Device connections > Android Auto.
In case of frequent disconnections, check the cable or maybe get a new one. This might be a hardware problem.
With this, we hope that you were able to fix the annoying bugs in your OnePlus 8 Pro.
